The Worst Week EVER

This last week has been the last week of my entire life so far. It started on monday at about 3:45 when I called my mom's work to ask her how long and what temperature I needed to cook a pot-roast at. Well the owner answered the phone and said, casually, oh she's not here she's up at the hospital. Well I though to my self, I woner who is there that she is visiting, then all of a sudden a horrible feeling came over me and then her boss started to explain that my mom fell off a ladder (where she was changing lightbulbs from) outside on the sidewalk and that the ambulance had taken her there. I gathered my composure and asked if my mom was ok. All her boss said is I'm not sure and I'm sorry to be the one to break the news to you. Well I hung up and called my dad, at this point I wasn't even sure if he knew. When I talked to him he said that she was in the ER and they weren't sure exactly what was wrong with her yet except a broken wrist so far. I was really quite histarical at this point and I was driving twoard the hospital and my dad said to be careful and Kamron was crying so hard because I was crying so hard.

When I got to the ER I almost walked past my mom's room becuase I didn't even recognize her. It was horrible!!! There was sooooo much blood and she was so bruised and there was just chaos. I had to gather myself together before I could even go and look at her. She was barely conscious. I just held her hand and told her I loved her. The nurses soon came and got her and took her to get x-rays and a CAT scan. When she came back the doctor came to talk to my father and me and told use her wrist was shattered and that she had some hemorrhaging on her brain and she would need to be life flighted to EIRMC (eastern Idaho regional medical center) in Idaho Falls. I can't even describe how scared I was. I just kept thinking how much I need my mom. How much I love her, and how nothing could happen to her. My Dad and me quickly decided to go to our houses and pack our bags and to meet at his house. Garrett and I decided that I would take Kamron so I wouldn't feel like I needed to be in two places at once and becuase we really didn' t know what else to do. I called my sister to let her know what was going on ( I called her on the way to the hospital crying because Garrett couldn't understand me when I called him and I needed someone to talk to), she had calmed me down saying it was probably just a broken bone. I asked her to call the boys and fill them in.

When we got to IF and the Nuerologist who was on call got to the hospital he looked at the CAT scan and said that it looked ok for now but they would do another in the morning and if it had gotten worse they would have to opperate to relieve the pressure. The arm was on hold untill they okayed her head. the next morning the CAT scan came back with the same amount of hemorrhaging as the night before. Finally, the first bit of good news. My mom was in so much pain in her wrist and head it was soo sad. she just kept asking us to make it go away! They scheduled her surgery for 6:00 that night. Finally a little after 8:00pm they took her in. SHe had broken it in 5 big pieces and about 8 total that where worth mentioning. She had a plate and 5 screws and the rest where just set in place he also repaired some tendion damage as well.

She was in the hospital on a morphine drip untill Thursday when they decided to send her to a rehab department within the hospital. THey have been making sure that when she goes home she can climb stairs and walk around without loosing her balance. they also where giving her cognitive tests to make sure her brain is ok. There is some damage to the brain that they are having a speech therapist work with her on. Her headaches are pretty much constant and can be for up to 2 months while the blood is re-absorbed into her brain. Her wrist is also in a lot of pain and is still very swollen, well at least the fingers (the soft cast is covering the arm).

Besides dealing with this in a normal fashion we have had to deal with a hospital that is aweful. They never keep any of us informed (including my mom). When they do tell us something we get like three different stories. It seems like she would be doing better to heal at home and they are just milking it. It has been very frustrating for my family. I hope I never have to deal with the hospital after this is all over with.

My mom is such a trooper. She is sooooooooooooooooooo very lucky. We were givin a book about patients with traumatic brain inguries and she doesn't have alot of the problems and shouldn't that alot of them have. It is such a miracle. Before she left portneuf she was given a blessing by her dad and Garrett and I know that the lord works in wonderous ways and that the power of the preisthood is a very strong tool he has given us here on earth. I can't thank my heavenly father enough for alowing my mom to be ok and to have only minor problems in the end. I am so blessed. My mom is still in the rehab center cooping with the large amount of pain and we hope very much to have her home this week. This experience has been and eye-opener for me. I love my mom so much, she is truely my best friend. I think that she is a very strong individual who deserves the best that life has to offer her and much much more. I know that she is a blessing and a miracle.I LOVE YOU MOM!!!

What Happened: Since my mom wasn't sure what happened I called Shane, my mom's emplyee's husband who saw it happen. My mom was outside on the ladder and it looked like she was a little wobley and looked like she realized she was up to high. She went to reach for the ladder to take a step down but never made it. Her head hit the cement with her arm under her. Her legs stayed in the ladder and where pulled out.She blacked out for a couple of minutes and had to have her head lifted out of her blood so she could breathe. She came to and tried to sit up and basically passed back out and went into shock. The ambulance responded very quickly and where there in about 6 minutes.

The results: A broken wrist, tendon damage, a little road rash, some stitches on her forehead, a big black eye, the whole left side of her body bruised, and TBI (traumatic brain injury), a couple months of enduring pain, a little uncertianty of the whole effects of the TBI, and a lot of answered prayers and a very big blessing!!

7 Months and a not so good blogger

Kamron is seven months, and has been for a couple of weeks. I try to at least post every month on or neer his month mark. However, I have been a poor blogger and have neglected to do so this month. Kamron has both his front teeth and is looking pretty darn cute with his teethy grin. He is not crawling yet except for in circles and he does go backwards a little two. He has has a crazy month with teething two teeth, a little flu virus (and with it his first diaper rash), and his first cold. He is such a trooper trough it all. He was still his happy-go-lucky self just a little more cuddly (Not that I'm complaining). Garrett has been a little slower at work the last few weeks and so he has been able to get home around 7:30 most nights which has been great. I am still staying home with Kamron and I am trying to discover a way to make it permenant! We got family pictures taken a few weeks back and as soon as I get them I will be sure to post them.

My little Mow-Hawk kid! (and a very cheesy grin from me)

The other night I was making dinner and Garrett started doing arm curls with Kamron and I ran over and attacked him he laughed so hard I grabbed the camera to record it. He's pretty much the custest kid ever, yeah I'd be willing to defend that title!

kinda boring, but this is Kamron getting his teeth, tooth, brushed he's not quite sure what to think!

To: My Valentines!

I have the two greatest valentines ever!!

First my husband, Garrett. I just want him to know how much I love him and appreciate him. I know how hard he works to support his family even though he's rather stay at home and play with us. I know he does whatever he can to make my life easier. He is so selfless! He has alwasys been there for me through both my good and bad moments and I just want him to know how greatful I am and how much I love him!! I LOVE YOU. (now the true test is to see how long it takes him to notice this)

Second, my son, Kamron! Oh my heck I don't even know how to describe the love I have for my little man. He is seriously my world. He means so much to me and brings us so much happiness. He has the most contangious smile and laugh. I spend more of my day laughing with him than getting any chores done. I am so happy to get to stay at home with him! I love you son!

His hair is comming in its hard to tell becuase it is so light but its there Things he loves right now:

- the dog
- the cat
- anything that fits in his mouth (usually our cell phones)

Christmas

Wow I can't belive 2009 is just a couple days away. This year has flown by. I graduated college, was pregnant for more than haf the year, we had an amazing child, lots of medical problems and bills, a kitty surgery, and lots of laughs and loves from eachother and our families. Thanks to everyone for the great year. We spent Christmas eve at our house with Garrett's syblings, we were fortunate enough to have Garrett's parents and his youngest sybling marshall on the webcam. We took a couple hours and opened up presents and spent time with eachother. the boys got a lot of gun stuff and were supper excited. Kamron got a nebraska jersey and a couple toys. Then we packed up our presents and headed to my parents house where we spent the night in preperation for christmas morning. I am very fortunate and I hav e ababy who sleeps very well. My mom and I had to wake him up at about 9 on Christmas morning. over all the paper, bows, and boxes where Kam's favorite. but after they where gone he played with his toys and many outfits. He is doing so good sitting up he can bend over to pick up toys and go back to sitting up with no problems. He still hates being on his bell, so tummy time is like 15 minutes of whyning. He has also discovered he has a loud voice so he just sits there and screams for very long periods of time. He's just getting so big!!

5 Months

Today is Kamron's five month mark!! It has seriously been the best five months. we are so blessed with a very happy and healthy baby. He is so good-natured and very loving. I am very lucky to be at home with him andwatch him grow. He is doing so much now. We bought him a walker wich he loves (as do we, its like an hour break at a time from holding/entertianting him). It only took him about 5 minutes to figure out how to get around in it. He now chases the dog around the house. On Saturday he started doing this thing where he sucks his bottom lip in and hums. I think the vibration feels good on his gums, which are bothering him. He is so strong and loves to stand up . He loves the dog!! He will sit there and laugh at the dog forever. He tries to grab onto him and when he does he wont let go. Kamron is doing really well sitting up the last week. He does really well if he has a toy infront of him. But he is still wobbly and he only sits for a minute or two at a time. Crawling on the other hand is comming a little slower. He really hates being on his stomach so we just try a few minutes here and there throughout the day. He will scoot a little bit and its usually backwards. he does go in circle though.!!

Beautiful Blessings Vs. Little Crap

I am a little grouchy today. It just seems like since August everything bad has happened to me, and my family. Now I know there are much worse things that could happen and thankfully havent. Well, I just know I am a really blessed individual so despite everything I just want to really focus on the good things in life for moment. Hopefully it will put the crappy things in perspective!

So here it goes BLESSINGS VS. CRAP
In the right corner: Beautiful Blessings
- My son, Oh what and amazing spirit, and his laugh oh my there is no drug more addicting. he is
literally my world. I love him so much!!
- my husband, what a rock. he's so patient and so hard working
- my mom, she's always there for me. even the stupid questions (can I melt chocolate chips in
microwave)
- my dad, he's always there for the hard work that Garrett can't get to cause he works 24/7
- My inlaws, alwyads loving and supportive
- my sister who indures more than most
-my brothers, who are always good for a laugh and or a reality check
- my house. I know its not huge or fancy but its my home and it's filled with love. we've made it
what we wanted it to be
- my degree. I worked hard and I accomplished something important to me and my family
- gas prices, I'm sure everyone is
- my savior. and what he has done for me. For he has carried a much larger burden than me.
- my health. I'll probably live till i'm 105
- Modern-day revelation
- the church. I love the true gospel. I am who I am because of it.
- my severance package. I can be a stay at home mom. Even if its only temporary
- spending every day with Kamron
- the temple. how peaceful. how beautiful. how meaningful.
- christmas. The true meaning of Christmas.
- My experiences which will someday make me a strong individual.

In the left corner: Little Crap...
- my car. the brakes. the tires. the air conditioner. the fuel injector I've had it since I was in highschool need I say more

- stupid doctor who messed up my son's circumsision. which is outwhieghed by having my
wonderful son. but still he should pay for his mistake
- getting laid off. which it was outwieghed by getting to stay at home
- stupid dog. between the barking and the jealous peeing he's about to find a new home
- the cat who is so very sick and has puked all over my freshly shampood carpets
- BILLS
- stepping on a piece of glass
- laundry
- never feeling like we have enough money ( even though we always do)
- My husband working non-stop
- Having no cable/satalite

And the winner is..... Beautiful Blessings!!!!! YEAH!! I knew if i just wrote it out I would see the difference. Not just in quality but I actually couldn't think of any more crappy things and I could have kept going on the blessings. I know I am pittying (sp) myself but I just have had a rough few months. Thanks for letting me vent. I know that I am a pretty lucky lady with a really great fam who loves me and supports me. Thanks to everyone who has ever been there for me.
